A TRADE WITH HOUSE OF EARNEST

I'm so excited today to introduce you guys to a project that has been a little while in a making! Erin from House of Earnest and I are teaming up for a fun cross-country mail swap.  We're sending each other a parcel with secret assorted supplies out of which we both must come up with a DIY to share with our readers.  It's not a competition, but a fun way to stay on our creative toes and you guys get to benefit from two DIYs that might inspire your own at home projects!  So here goes!  The rules are simple:

Sound fun? We’re definitely excited about it! A week from today, we’ll be back to share the contents of our boxes then a week after that (two weeks from today) we’ll share what we made with the mystery items and a little step by step so that you can do the same.

ANNOUCEMENT: AMPERSAND DESIGN STUDIO

I have an exciting announcement for you today. I'm going to be doing a monthly guest column on AMPERSAND DESIGN STUDIO!! I had the great fortune of meeting Carrie & Morgan while we worked together at Hallmark and we became fast friends. They are sweet, stylish and hilariously entertaining. I am so thrilled to be working with these two amazingly talented girls. They are busy getting ready for their first showing at Surtex and I couldn't be a more proud cheerleader as I watch them race after their dreams. They inspire me in more ways than I can count and I'm thankful to be able to call them dear friends. Cheers to what's ahead, ladies!

Oh and they just did a complete redesign of their entire website, so go check it out! You can find my first post: a DIY grown up candy necklace on their BLOG!

BRIDAL SHOWER

last month i hosted a bridal shower for one of my dearest friends, abby. in june she will marry an incredible man named micah and soon after they will be moving east while micah goes to grad school. as promised last week, here are a few details from the shower.

i made these decorations that read "abby hearts micah" for the front entrance and i'm so excited that abby is going to reuse them at her wedding!

i used jelly jars as glasses for the guests and made little name tags. i wrapped each glass with a rubber band, punched a hole in the name tag and tied them on using bakers twine. so easy!

using washi tape, i embellished the toothpicks holding the sandwiches together to make them look a bit more dressed up for the party.

to finish it off, i made a banner and what a happy day it was!
